Belonging to India …

Filed under: I think — Korporate Krishna @ 7:25 pm

I came to Chennai a month back to complete my two month training program here. I am a native of India but rooted in her northern ‘part’. When I was coming here from my home, people suggested me a dos and don’ts list to survive ‘here’ properly as if I was going to a warfront.

When I came here, I felt like a foreign country. It’s hard to believe that southern ‘part’ of the same country will be so different. Foods, Language, Lifestyle, Expressions everything was so different here. People often talk about the ‘northern’ rudeness, shrewdness and authoritativeness.

But then I observed for a little while, bodies may be different but birth marks and wounds are the same, people struggle to the same extent for their livelihood here like they do in Mumbai and Delhi, streets are equally crowded and full of colorful shop-stops like they are in Calcutta or Ahmadabad. Chennai is equally crazy for Chennai super kings like Delhi is for Delhi Daredevils.

Though kids sing the same National Anthem in every “part” of India still I am a North Indian and a Madrasi in Delhi is a South Indian.

Well they say we stay in a politically correct world, and also in same country but aren’t we expressive about the cultural diversity now shadowed with Divide we have in one nation. Are we anyhow in a way to bridge it?
